Stars That Shine was recently named a Period Hero by Always Brand due to their efforts in fighting period poverty in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia.

By age 14, 90% of girls in the US will have a menstrual cycle. 1 in 5 of those girls will struggle to afford menstrual hygiene products and be considered under the term period poverty. This is where Stars That Shine is making a difference in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia with the Girls United Period project.

The Girls United Period project is providing girls and schools in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia with access to free period products and feminine hygiene essentials. We have made it our mission to try to stop period poverty and create resources for girls. Stars That Shine hosts period product pickups in communities, drop-offs at schools, donations to churches and teachers, and we now are shipping products throughout the community!
